Why Some Children Struggle to Learn English

  • English is a Germanic family member, making it difficult for non-Latin language native speakers such as Chinese, Tamil, Japanese, Korean, etc., to learn.
  • The English language comprises many rules to formulate sentences but these rules don’t always work and have many exceptions.
  • There is a specific word order to getting a sentence right – e.g. a small green ball is correct, but a green small ball is wrong.
  • Its vocabulary origin is 26% Germanic, 30% French, 30% Latin, and the remaining from other languages.
  • Same spelling, different pronunciation and meaning, talk about confusing. Dough, tough, and bough have the same spelling but are pronounced differently. Same as read and read.
  • Synonyms aren’t always synonymous, which makes vocabulary a living nightmare. You would “see a film” or “watch television” but never “see a television.”

The Secret Lies In Making English Easier for Non-Native Speakers

The biggest problem with learning English is that there are so many different rules to remember.

No wonder a non-native speaker finds it challenging to piece words together to form a coherent sentence.

And it doesn’t help that those native speakers you watch on television love breaking every grammatical rule and confusing students even more. E.g. “I is talking,” “Cover me face”

But Don’t Just Take My Word for It

Hear It From Students Who Have Benefitted from the LSE Method

LSE has been tutoring my two kids since 2020 and still continuing. My daughter got AL1 in PSLE under her watchful coaching. She gives the best assurance most parents can ever ask for. I do not need to worry about my kids’ English study with LSE. She is firm but also patient with her students. Her intention to help each child as well as her encouragement improves the confidence every child would hope for.

We are foreigners who passed the AEIS exam in the fifth grade and transferred to a local school. My kid’s English foundation is very weak. Friends recommended to find LSE for tutoring, because their children have studied with teacher Radha for several years and achieved good results in the primary 6 exams. LSE has a very systematic teaching method. According to the actual situation of the child, she strengthens the weaknesses and adjusts the teaching according to the progress of the school. My daughter also likes LSE very much, she is friendly and helpful. In the past two years of study, her English score have been greatly improved, and she has achieved good results in each exam. I highly recommend LSE.

Let's Build Back Your Child's English Foundations While There's Still Time

A big part of learning (any topic or subject) is making it easy to learn.

Children who feel comfortable while learning picks up much faster than those who are forced to do so.

In addition, having a positive re-enforcing mechanism is vital to keep their motivation up.

And that’s one of the most significant issues I’ve always had with using exam papers as “study material”. Each failure and mistake demoralises the child instead of building their confidence.

That’s why the materials I designed are structured to make learning easy so that instilling the foundations of the English language is less scary.

And as their confidence grows, they’ll find it more enjoyable to push themselves further (and faster) because they are no longer studying blindly.

So, if you are serious about helping your child overcome their self-imposed beliefs about the English language…

Then do your child a big favour and pick up one of my LSE Study Kits.

Your child will thank you and become a much more proficient English speaker and writer.
